Good news for Gashapon lovers! The first Gashapon Bandai Official Shop is Opening in Malaysia at IOI City Mall Putrajaya 2 and this will be the first Bandai Official Shop in South East Asia.
The first Gashapon Bandai Official Shop in Malaysia (and all of Southeast Asia) opened on March 16, 2023 at IOI City Mall, Putrajaya. The shop boasts over 300 capsule machines filled with a wide variety of Bandai’s latest gashapon toys! While this was the first official Bandai shop, there have been additional stores open more recently including locations at Pavilion Bukit Jalil and Fahrenheit88.
For those unfamiliar with the term, Gashapon refers to those colorful capsule vending machines dispensing miniature toys. They’re a cultural phenomenon in Japan, offering a fun and affordable way to collect figurines, keychains, and other cute trinkets featuring popular anime, manga, and video game characters.
Gashapon is the capsule toys vending machine and it is also a trademark of Bandai. The Gashaopon is originated in the 1960s and it is popular in Japan and worldwide. ‘Gashapon’ meaning is from two sounds ‘gasha’ for the hand cranking action of the vending machine and ‘pon’ is the sound of the toy capsule landing at the collection tray.
